Travelling is one of my favourite things in the world… right next to coming home.
Getting away from the farm or ranch isn’t quite as simple as throwing a suitcase in the truck and heading to the airport. It takes a whole team effort to make it happen! Between lining up someone to feed the cows, horses, dogs, chickens, cats (and anything else that calls your place home), making sure the yard is looked after, and double-checking all the little details, there are a lot of moving parts before you can truly relax.
With everything else on the checklist, it’s easy to overlook something that’s just as important; protecting yourself while you’re away.
Travel insurance is often treated as an afterthought. Many people assume they’re covered through their credit card, but that isn’t always the case. Coverage can vary based on your age, the length of your trip, your destination, and even how you booked your travel. Some policies have exclusions that can leave you paying out of pocket when you least expect it.
The last thing anyone wants is to come home with a mountain of unexpected medical bills after an otherwise unforgettable vacation.
Before you pack your bags, take a few minutes to review what coverage you actually have. It might be enough—or you may discover there are some important gaps that are easy to fill before you leave.
